TOKYO DESIGNERS WEEK 2009 CONTAINER GROUND | GREEN ROOM CONTAINER
Dezeen and Design Association teams up again this year to give five designers a free exhibition space in Container Ground during Tokyo Designers Week in 2009. Five winners of our Container Design Competition will each be given a free exhibition space of shipping container at Tokyo Designers Week 2009 and some construction budget.

About Container Design Competition
- Eligibility:
- Designers and Artists who can manage build up and down.
**The shipping container provided to the winners must be returned to the organizer in original condition. - Theme:
- “GREEN ROOMS”, to find eco-friendly life style from our closestliving environment.The theme of Tokyo Designers Week 2009 is “GREEN” and we are looking for innovative ideas and design to be eco-friendly from our closest living environment.Design may only be the solution to be ecological stress-free and starting this movementof such from our closest living environment only makes sense since that is where our life revolves.
The best 5 ideas and designs that give great solution to be ecological from our closest living space will win the prize of this competition. - Panel:
- Applications will be reviewed and judged by a panel consisting of members including Design Association president and art director: Katsumi Asaba, Design Association executive director: Kenji Kawasaki and Dezeen editor in chief:Marcus Fairs.Winners will be notified by email and the winning designs will be published on Dezeen.

(1)Free exhibition space of 12ft Container in Tokyo Designers Week 2009
(2)Up to 300,000JPY construction budget provided on site after build up
(3)Special coverage in Dezeen.com and Official Newspaper of Tokyo Designers Week - How to apply:
- Please submit the application using the entry form.
- Application:
- -Format: PDF file less than 5MB
- -Must include:
- Title, concept sheet, visual images of your idea on the theme“GREEN ROOMS”.
- -Deadline:
- Must submit the application by 31st August 2009

- Inner size:

- Inside Wall Surface:
- Corrugated panel(rib:20cm)
- Floor:
- 28㎜ thickness of plywood or flooring
- Electricity:
- One outlet of 1kw electricity power
- Other conditions:
- The shipping container provided to the winners must be returned to the organizer in original condition.Therefore, you may not paint directly to the container or punch holes to the surface.
Any damages to the container caused by the exhibitors will be charged. More information will be provided in the exhibitor hand-book for the winners of this competition.

What is Container Ground
Container Ground is located in open air at the main venue of Tokyo Designers Week, Meiji Jingu Gaien and is one of the highlights of TDW since 2003.
A fleet of industrial shipping containers become the basic exhibition sitting for unique presentations from across the world, and together forming an atmosphere where exhibitors freely present unique exhibits within containers.

About Tokyo Designers Week
Tokyo Designers Week is one of most important design show in Japan, which takes place every fall in end of October to early November for five days.The main venue is located in Meiji Jingu Gaien, consisting of exhibitions such as 100% Design Tokyo, Container Exhibition, Designboom Mart and Student Exhibition.Aside from the main venue in Meiji Jingu Gaien, registered design stores all over the city holding special events are collectively called Shop Exhibition, which is also a part of Tokyo Designers Week.
